  1. right on guys just had to get latest update. Big thanks to all who helped me though this large annoyance.
  2. ok so I not a computer very literate sort I followed this path "C:\program files\mcamx9\common\swoksdata\swdocumentmgr.dll" is the dll correct as I have or do I change it to something???? Sorry for my ignorance here guys.
  3. I know we are behind the times but we just updated to Solidworks 2016 And we are still running X9 MC. Used to work fins till I updated Solidworks now I get this error message " cannot find Parasolid data in solidworks file" when trying to import Solidworks models. Old models work fine just new models created in 2016 Solidworks I get this message. My work around is to save the SLD file to a Parasolid .XT file and it works fine. Anyone else seen this problem?? Thanks in advance guys.
  4. I am drilling holes and I wont them drilled in the order I pick them. The "Sort" function keeps changing my wonted order. I am just using a 2 axis (No Z) machine for this quickie. so how do I turn off the sort function???? Am using X9 on a Proto Trak Machine
  5. put the compound slide to Zero degrees, cut one thread then move the compound slide the pitch between the 2 starts then machine the second start. As Metthew said above chances are the opposite thing on the dial most times won't work.
  6. Anyone know where to get there, and I mean Metric sized not imperial sizes that are close.
  7. Thanks guys all good ideas. But the biggie from all this is YES fill out some sort of note on every operation. I find it really comes in handy when you start moving the order of operations around.
  8. I Always leave some sort of comment, simple may it be. But Where I Have run inot trouble is bracket inside another bracket eg. ( tool 3 (regrind) small pocket) This makes my Robo drill fault and give me an error message. Easy to fix but it dosn't make sence to me since the machine dosn'r see anything inside ( ......) Little thing i have learned not to do but reading this thread made me wonder again????
  9. We have very recently got into the 3D printer world. Two "printers" of different makes. Not ideal but a long story that I just have to deal with. Anyway both these printers have there own built in CAM like software. It occurred to me that there should be a Master Cam like software out there and just post it to each machine like we do every day. Instead of learning software for every different make of machine. Maybe an idea for MC.... Wire, Lathe, Router, mill and 3D printer????
  10. stupid question but where do you fond this??? I can't see any general under settings. OOPS I am still in X7 maybe that is why???
  11. I just got new computer and loaded X7. all used to work well but i have this hick-up with this new equipment. I am just simple surfacing using Proto-Trak 3 axis machine. Hence I am just using toolpaths, Surface, Rough method. no matter waht i do the first cut is at the top of the part cutting air then secong cut actually cuts where first cut depth should be. Seems to me this happened to me a few years back and some setting was not right. Can anyone steer me to this setting so the first cut actually does something??? TIA Karl.
  12. thats it Paris. Now it is making sense and the code looks right. My thinking was since i got the tap from the library the feed numbers would be there so it would work. Thanks again.
  13. when I type .5 in the FPT box the other numbers come up as .250 in the feedrate at 500 RPM and when I post this the F is still 2. It is asthough MC is seeing the FPT as .5 inch instead of .5mm???? But still don'y understand whey the posted code remains at 2.???
  14. I am trying to program a M3X.5 tap. I went to mill mm library and got the M3X.5 tap all good. In the parameters tool Tab I filled in 500 RPM and the feed rate of 9.84252 came up, also all good. But the FPT seems stuck on .5, ( Will not undate)no matter what values I put in anywhere. Then whaen i post this, the F value comes out to 2. after the G95. Both very wrong. What am I doing wrong?????? Thanks in advance for your help here guys. Am using X7 robodrill machine
  15. Thanks Paris worked perfictly. Now it looks and acts right. Not scard to push the button now lol
  16. thanks guys for the help here. But why are the Graphics out so much?? This 3mm tap looks more like 3" in back plot??? Maybe thats the problem??? in Back plot and Simulation it sees 3 and thinks 3" ????
  17. I am not sure if what i have is correct. In Backplat this tool looks like the size of a bus (Hudge) But when i get this tool and enter 500 RPM the feed comes out to 9.84252 does this sound correct????
  18. so for the first time I am trying to find a metric tap in the tool Library. A M3 X .5 tap where do I find one???? Using X7
  19. pushing this to the top since I wrote this Saturday.
  20. I am using multie Axis / Cruve to program about the 4th axis. Nothing really fancy .Computer gives me a 6.1 feed value and similar plunge rate which I went with. My code comes out pretty well except a couple of lines with really slow feed rates. towards the bottom of the following code you will notice feed rate as low as .04 WAY to slow. Is this in the post or am I missing something???? Buck 30. G0 G90 G80 G40 G17 G49 G49 G53 Z0. 21. Yes Yes and Yes Chris. Thanks i will go check it out. I also think i will be using it often. I have Pro Drill also which is great for the hundread or so hole pattern but this looks like it will work For thoes times when there are just 8 or so hnoles.
  22. I have seen this demoed and would love to give it a go. Anyone know of a video out there that instructs one how to use this new X7 toy??? Yes we are a bit behind the times and have just got X7. Thanks in advance Karl.
  23. Thabks guys. and yes djstedman i ended up following your advice. Worked well with that unique "Q" in the G code. Wopulkd be great if it could be changed in mass in MC though. Tool Parameters????? when you create a tool alancoop??? Sorry i not sure where the tool parameters are???
  24. I am using Pro Drill on a lot of holes on the 4th axis and on a tapered surface. Works great but gives me a lot of operations. I wont to make the Peck value less aggressive in each of these operations for the 1mm drill I am using. So anyone know how to mass edit this value??? Editing common parameters doesn't work. Nowhere to even try this there. Thanks for help anyone. and I am still in X6.
  25. We just got the solids add on to our MC6 Sooo i am doing a very simple part and wont to run a simple surface routine but just on 2 surfaces of the model. Trying to just pick the two surfaces I need but the whole model is being selected. I know i am missing something simple here but how can I just select the needed surfaces with the solid option on. Thanks in advance for all the incoming comments that are about to come in.
