Testing macro programs

Maybe I should have asked this question many years ago but...How are you testing your hand written macro programs. I've been locked into the routine of writing programs, triple checking them and then going out to the machine for the big test. Am I the only caveman left or are we all just a step above the hammer and chisel method?

To my knowledge there is no Verify program that will read raw G-code.

I write this because I can't get the G, M and F visions out of my head before I go to sleep. I hate editing old code! Just kidding, actually I love my job!!!
