Dynamic tool path for face grooving , how good is it

I have  a groove .300 wide with a .150 full radius  by 400 deep . I am considering the new 2022 lathe with the dynamic roughing , has anyone used it and can see the advantage  because it looks real good and I believe I can cut down my cycle times

The Dynamic Roughing works great, but it works especially well with a round insert.

What is the "inner & outer" face groove diameter? Sandvik makes inserts/holders for Face Grooving, but it looks like the minimum 'inner diameter' is about 40mm. (1.574")

They have a 'Tailor Made' program where you can get a custom holder & insert combination, if you've got a requirement which doesn't fit within the "standard offering".

Get the 1125 Grade. It works in basically any material. Plus the cost per insert isn't too bad at about $35 per insert.

Use the "RM" insert for roughing, and the "RO" insert for finishing. (Or just get the "RO" insert, for roughing and finishing, if you are forced to use the same tool for the entire operation.

They also have a Ceramic, CBN, and PCD, if you require hard-turning, or are turning Aluminum with a bunch of silicon. However, the prices per insert get pretty expensive. I think the CBN Insert is about $250 bucks per insert. (But if it can last 100's of parts, it could be the right solution...)

I would personally stick to the grooving cycle for face grooves.

As Colin explained above the dynamic cycle works great with button inserts and I have had lots of success with OD Rgh profiling.

But when it comes to the Face groove I try to keep my cutting force engaged Axially to prevent deflection and chatter.

Plus you can really be as aggressive as you want because its seating the insert as its cutting.

Where as the dynamic can overload on side pressure and blow out the insert or bend the tang of your tool. which can get pricey$$$
