i am trying to touch off a .016 carbide reamer in our vf2ssyt with next gen controll but cant override the probing feed witch is causing the reamer to break on touch off. is there a way to adjust the feed rate witch it probes at ?

thanks

Do it by hand the old school way to the table or the part and call it a day.

There are settings for that, I believe they're written into the macros themselves.  Your HFO should be able to tell you.  If you change the touchoff feed rate you will need to recalibrate the tool probe.  If you don't need the length to be as accurate, the machine should obey the feed override knob while probing.

Or what Ron said.

I was able to use the standard toolsetting macro to touchoff a .013" endmill the other day and it worked fine.

I recently ran into a similar problem.  I found if I defined the tool as an endmill in the control on the haas and gave it an estimated length, then used rotating length setting it will come down fast, pause slightly above, and then feed while rotating very slowly to touch off.  I was using a .011" drill and it worked great.  Give it a shot.
