backplot display

When I backplot a rotated contour toolpath, my part doesn't rotate. The tool just moves around the part. In my display properties I have "Simulate rotary axis" checked with Tool orientation set to top, and axis rotation set to x. Any thoughts??? Thanks

What is the spefic toolpath. If it is just a 3d toolpath as a 4th axis control then that might be it. If you are not using the top as a toolplane that might be but doubt it. In an off chance if the part revolving around the y axis. Test this do a 5 axis curve with the same toolapth and see if the part moves if no put the file up on the ftp or a save soem of just the chain and we can take a look if the whole part can not be shared.

Jammer ,If your toolpaths are just indexing to the next plan this will not rotate the part.

If you are doing true 4th axis paths like axis substation then it will rotate the part.

Hey Guys

If your doing positioning turn on your Rotary Axis and set it to positioning. Then in your backplot setting make sure your set to simulate fourth axis is switched on.

Now you should see your part Rotate even if doing just positioning.

 

I use it all the time for Tombstone work
