Finally getting to do a 5 axis part....question(s)

'Bout time I get to do a 5 axis toolpath. I've been working with Mastercam for 8 years.

 

I'll be starting with the MPGEN5X_FANUC.PST so any advise along the lines of necessary tweeks to it would really be helpful.

 

I'll be programming for a Cincinatti 20v Accramatic control.

 

Question 1) I need to enter the cutter length (pivot length) somewhere..where?

The tool length ( gage length + pivot length)

it entered the the "Overall" field of the define tool page. There is a question in the post

that enables this feature.

Question 2) Where do I plug in the Pivot length value for my machine? Guess: Some misc integer?

You get prompted somewhere. Create the operation and post it. A prompt should appear.

 

Hey Dave! the new machine can do live 5!! We'll have to turn the prompt back on sometime.

Hey Harry - The new machine should have G43.4 to handle the 5-Axis tool length comp.
