And it shows my tool under cutting the STL model by .014 on a profile cut when it really is .02" away from the model.

Is there any way to 'tighten up' the faceting to minimize the error? I have the slider bar all the way to quality on the verify comfiguration.

...my first image, hope it works.

Thanks for any help!!

I have the same problem. Many times I have to backplot the tool paths and check it with a calculator. Toolpath is correct (and ran perfect), but in verify it shows gouges or cuts where it should not.

In very tough cases, I turn on "Turbo (no tool)", zoom in on the area, and then hit ninth button from left -- "Accurate Zoom". It helps some, but still has it draw backs.

Sorry, that the best I can do. I will be following this thread for a better answer from one of the greatest team in the Universe. biggrin.gif

The model is fine. The problem is with the custom tool. The custom tool profile is just an endmill and holder drawn up per the custom tool instructions (Radius=1.0).

It looks good in backplot. In verify (with 'as defined' checked)I get an octagonal representation of the round endmill which obvioulsy is a very 'coarse' approximation to the real thing.

It under cuts the model by .040" or so.

Thanks for any help!!!

Wow! that is wierd!. I just had a simalar problem on a Five axis program the other day. I had a Custom Tool built so that I could check for the Holder / Clamp clearance. The tool looked fine but it showed the Tool gouging in "as defined" mode. When I verified in "Auto", it did not show a gouge.

It may be a good idea to send that file in to [email protected] so that they could check it out. If they can reproduce it, they will log it and it may get fixed.

Thanks

I change the value of #77 in the Verify.prm file located in your millops folder. That's always worked for me. Start at .003 and work down.
