Post Question

Hello,

Hope someone can help me with a very vague question.

I have been sending simple 2D drilling and milling programs to one of our sister companies for a Heidenhain TNC 426B machine. I am using a post that my dealer sent (Mpmaster_Heid_Conv).These programs have worked fine until recently when they began working with some 3D contour milling. This type of milling is no different than what I have been doing at my building, just our building uses diffent posts for fanuc controls. Could there be anything in the post that would be causing this? Or would your opinion be an operator error? I'm not real familiar with the Heidenhain control, and the operator at our sister company can't figure out how to get the programs to work. I know this is gray, but maybe I can get a lead from all the experience on this forum. Maybe I can squeeze some more information out of our sister company.

Thanks in Advance,

Scot

I think in the direction of helical moves.

Heidenhain can only make them when they are programmed (posted) polar.

You can linearize helixes

Can't the machinist tell you wat lines give an error?

Thank You for the responses. How do you linearize the helixes? Can I do this in MasterCam?

P.S. I haven't received any more feedback from the operator, but I have requested more detailed feedback.

Much Appreciated,

Scot

Hi Scot,

Maybe i was too fast frown.gif

I did a little test, 3D contour automatically linearizes the tootpath, in my test "rol cutter around edges" gave 2D arcs.

Only when you ramp a 2D-contour, you can linearise the helixes.

At this moment no other ideas,

I recently sent a simple text program over, and he was unable to run this either. I'm am still waiting for detailed feedback.

Henk, I will try the "roll cutter around edges".

Mayday, I will take another look at my programs..maybe I could email a copy for you to look at?

Much Appreciated,

Scot
