Mazatrol question.

I just started programming for a shop that is 90% Mazak.

The problem I'm encountering is I cannot get the older mazak's to accept the program on download.

Their work around is to send it to a newer machine, then send it back to some GB (gart brothers?) editor and then use that editor to convert the file to M32 - M2 (or is it M+?).

This is insanity!! I've compared the files after conversion and they appear exaclty the same except for some weird symbol (like a bold letter "l") before each line.

This is with using one of their in house mazak posts.

Anyone know any secrets that would make my life a tad easier?

We're using

Mcam 9.0 Sp1 & Preditor

Thanks, Buzz.

Griffo Bros does a lot of work in the field of Mazatrol file storage, conversions, file transfers, cad imports, etc!

The work around is a pain but you really should contact Griffo Bros if this problem is presented within Mazatrol, other than that I would suggest contacting you local Mastercam reseller and go over these issues with them if this involves .EIA or .NC ascii files.

Regards, Jack

The Griffo Bros. (thanks Jack, that's the one) editor is great and all, it's just that I can't get the programs to load without the micky mousing around.

The Cimco editor is fine, they just have preditor as a preffered system. I don't think it's the software.

I think this has to do with the Mazatrol itself and I was hoping some "expert" might have some insight as to why I'm struggling.

The post that they use for their mazak's is basically the same as the standard mpfan post. We just load them through the EIA port.

One thing of note is I'm trying to load .nc files and when we got through converting the successful on (via the micky mouse method) it wasn't a .nc file anymore. Oddly I don't know what file extension it was (using their computer and they don't show file extensions). Guess I'll have to do some digging in the morning.

Again, thanks for any and all suggestions. I just think this method (they've been doing it for 5 years) is archaic.
