I am having trouble writing drill paths. On v9

I need to rapid 3.5" below the material surface (hole already exists) w/ a flat bottom drill, feed .25", and rapid out, then move to the next location. I have four holes to perform this operation on, so any combination I come up with either leaves me feeding the entire distance of the hole, or not retracting all the way out of the hole. What is the proper way to set this up?

On drill parameters I would set it like this:

Clearance = (Something above the part like 1.00) absolute

Retract = -3.5 absolute

Depth = -3.75 absolute

So what this would do is move tool to 1.0 above the part, rapid to -3.5, feed to -3.75 (or .25) Retract to 1.0 above the part then move to the next hole location.

Hope this helps

Bill,

Welcome to the forum.

On the tool paramter page under the second tab, set your clearance to your "initial plane". ie. 1.0, Retract to -3.5, and top of Stock to top of the surface you want to start drilling at, and depth to depth of hole. cool.gif

[EDIT] too slow . . . too slow
