I don't have a Fanuc Lathe Operator's manual otherwise I'd probably be able to clear it up.

Using MasterCAM and allowing it to create canned cycles out is probably be your best bet. Think of it this way, you'd be done already if you used Mastercam instead of going about it the manual imput method.

Jimbo,

one of the easiest toolpaths to set up in lathe are the drill cycles. so it would be a good place to start. no need to pick a drill point as mastercam assumes you are drilling the center of the part ( i am assuming a 2 axis lathe).ignore the X,Z feature on the parameters page for drill point when the page opens and just set depth, retract, and peck values. then post and see what you get.

Jimbo, I am certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed but I taught myself how to use Lathe. Phil's right though. A drilling cycle is probably the easiest path to do. Actually you don't even have to have any geometry. You just adjust the depth parameters and post. Voila. BTW, if I had to write code by hand anymore, I'd have to find a new line of work.

cheers.gif for the effort Jim!
