Using Mill ver 8.1 I need to drill some holes at the bottom of a milled pocket which is .812 deep from the top of the part. The top is my z-zero. I want to start drilling

at the lower depth. How do I do this ? Don't

want to drill air first to get to the pocket bottom.

Brian,

try these parameters under the drilling tab:

Clearance= .100

Retract= -.790 (this will set your r plane)

top= 0

z= -.????

It may also be advisable to use G98 rather than G99 if posible

Just play with Retract and Depth If your pocket is -1.0 deep then put R= -.9 to start from .100 thou above.

if you draw them at the correct z and set r plane to incremental it will be correct in the program
