Hi,

I'm a new systems administrator for Mastercam. We upgraded to V8.1 a while ago, but now my boss just gave me a red network hasp which I need to install.

It didn't come with any installation instructions and I haven't been able to get a response from our vendor. Does anyone know if there are instructions for installing this nethasp on the web somewhere - or can someone tell me how?

thanks

adam

Someone will be able to give you a better answer, but I'll start it off...

The steps involved are:

1. Installing the NetHASP on the computer that will act as the server.

2. Running the NetHASP service on the computer that is acting as the server.

3. Modify the nethasp.ini file to accomodate your setup (Ex: server IP, port, protcol, etc...).

4. Distributing the nethasp.ini file to the clients who will run Mastercam off the NetHasp (copy it to the Mastercam dir).

5. Running nethasp80.exe on the clients to change the HASP setting from local to network.

That's a rough overview of it. Hope it gets ya started smile.gif

Hi Adam,

We've been running Net/Hasp for a few months and We have some experience with it.

There IS documentation with it and it is helpful. Look in the root Directory of your MasterCam installation. THere are 2 Files concerning NetHasp.

NETHASP.txt

MASTERCAM NETWORKING.doc

Read them both.

We use the TCP/IP protocol on a fairly standard microsoft network. The HASP is mounted on a networked machine running WINNT.

You must install NetHasp Manager on the machine that has the HASP. this will be the SERVER.

Client machines look for the hasp on the network using a file called. NETHASP.ini

Edit this file on the CLIENT MACHINE to show the IP number of the SERVER MACHINE ( the one with the hasp.) Fill in the IP in te appropriate section on the Nethasp.ini file. You'll see it. If you have a lot of clients you'l want to save the edited NETHASP.ini file to a floppy or on the network somewhere. Copy this file (the editet .ini) to the ROOT mastercam directory on each client machine.

Then.

Go to the MasterCam root Dir of the client machine and find the file called NHASP80.exe

This is the file that directs MCAM to look for a hasp either network or local. Click on it. It will open and you'll be presented with a dialog to choose what type of hasp and what mode to us it in. Choose NETHASP for type and NETWORK for mode.

HTH
