They call me an engineer, but I have no degree. I prefer no titles, no cards.

I'm part owner and run the engineering and programming dept. I help out with manufacturing and machine repair when it's a wierd problem. I'll even sweep the floor and empty the garbage occasionally. What would you call me? How about Jim.

I know we all tend to do it all from deburring to QA and everything in between and to be honest I don't really care what they call me but I was looking on a headhunter/salary comparison type website and couldn't find anything that quite fit cnc programmer/application engineer/journeyman machinist/ master tool maker.

SOOO...Whats your title?

"Leadman"

I program and cut everyone else's stuff.

But I also make Molds/die's with only a model

No paper.I am still learning the design end of it.Are CAD reseller has a program. ($1,500.

And you can take any of the classes they are running for a year). s/w

One thing I don't like about "Design" is that when your not in front of your computer your Goofing off,Busted.

Also Head hunter's will tell you

top pay scale goes to leadmen, stick with That.

I don't really have a title any more. I'm content with what I do which is design stuff for the Drag Racing Industry (with my bosses direction), Design workholding/fixturing, Program, the parts, machine the first few parts, make modifications, then move onto the next part. I't very fun and extremely challenging. I get to pull from my wide array of skills instead of being compartmentalized into just one aspect of manufacturing.
