open pockets

Can someone tell me how to set the start point of a pocketing move so that my cutter starts outside of the pocket? It seems like I did it during the mill class I took, but I can't remember how to do it for the life of me.

add a chain to your geomery. Chain/point. Move that chained-point before the chained pocket geometry

In your pocketing parameters you could select an open pocket method. In open pocket parameters give yourself overlap percentage that is over 100%. Don't forget to check on "Use open pocket cutting method". Now there is no need to give yourself a manual entry point.

Thanks Robk, I messed round w/ it a little and that seems pretty cool too. Just not quite as much control as the method that Surface described.
