I am running sw2005 and MC ver 9.1 sp2 lvl 1 w/solids.

 

My question is why doesn't solidworks show 'mill' and only file save under the mcdirect button in SW?

Are you sending over a part file or an assembly file? Assembly files do not show the automatic "part save" area.

it's a part file. I managed to set it up to save

as the .sfb and then I'll go to MC and run the MC direct c-hook and that works real well. However, I'm still stumped on why SW won't launch MCdirect.

I have the same problem...Still can't figure it out...

There is a document in your MC9 folder called mcdirectsolidworks.htm Maybe you'll have better luck.

yeah, I read that thing a few times to see

if I missed or misunderstood but still can't

find the answer.

I would reinstall the MCdirect.

I have SW2005 and the latest MC on my laptop and I am able to bring direct from SW to MC using the button at the top of SW.

 

As I have been testing this my self.

Well, When I draw up a part in SW I'm supposed to be able to click MCDIRECT button and it launch MC with current file active already. However, I only have the ability to 'file save'. MC and SW have long been partners of sorts. As time goes by it's gotten easier to interface them.

 

Now when I reinstall MCDIRECT, what folder in MC should I extract the zip file to? the read-me just says MC ver. 9.1? Also, in SW, am I missing something that needs installed or otherwise adjusted to get this to work? In SW there is no help topic that I've found for this feature.

OK, contacted my reseller (mlc-cad) and was told that unless I had current maintence (MC) this feature wouldn't work. they just upgraded our SW on our maintence contract and we will be renewing our MC maintence shortly so it should work then.

Maybe that explains it for me also

I have current maintenance, but our wonderful IT guy waited months to update all the boxes. Now I'll have to wait for who knows how long for him to re-install my mcdirect. Sucks not having any administrative privileges.
