We are cutting our first Ti part soon and are sorting out strategies at the moment.

Most of our tool suppliers recommend to arc on to

any roughing operations,

Fine but say I want to m/c a pocket and plunge off the part to the cutting depth how do I get mastercam to arc into the workpiece to start machining, Any toolpaths I try it always defaults to the first movement as being a straight line???

Sorry Guys , but after a quick call to our technical support who then made a call to Cnc Software it looks as if Mastercam can't do this type of entry toolpath.

This technique is described in the latest titanium application guide from Sandvik

and is supposed to be 60% easier on tool life

looks like I'll have to manually create a 2d contour to get it to apply this method.

Thanks anyway's
