Ref point

Can someone tell me why why why Mastercam has to recaculate a surface toolpath if you add or change the ref point?

Say you add a retract like Z150 so as to clear for a 5-axis rotation its just a G00 move at the end of the program so why recaculate the whole toolpath?

cheer up Dave, can you remember when a simple feed rate change caused a regen? there are still a lot of stupid things going on that shouldnt. the one that irritates me is going into T/C planes just to check the settings and if I hit ok instead of cancel I have to regen

Agree MayDay sometimes just going back into a toolpath and adding a comment means a regen.

In my understanding of a Ref point is that it could and most likely would change the start of the toolpath, hence having to re-calc.

As far as Comments, Mastercam Knows that this is just TEXT and does not require a RE-Gen.

if you don’t want to backplot, just post it, all the changes you made will be incorporated in the program. Do not pay attention to red marks on your operations if you know what did you change.

It re-caculates a surfaces toolpath for a Z ref retract.If you put a Z-150 and it gouges it still writes the G00 Z-150,all that re-caculation time for a gouge great.This can by done by copying a Toolpath done is done in side view with a Z150 retract, paste it and change the T/plane to 6 and the Z retract becomes a Z minus.
