opening a mastercam files with a lot of toolpath surfacing in the operation manager takes quite a while.can we get rid of the toolpath operation and save to a nci file for retrieval only when we want to do programming.so that each time when we open the mastercam file,it could be faster without having to read in the toolpaths.

good thought there JAMMAN.

You are right those things do make a diffrence now adays.

I don't find to much of a problem, still coming from the server.

But i have a fast switch network along with its coming from a daul PIII 800 with ATA100

to a PIII 1gig ATA100 system.

Beleave it or not there is no SCSI in this house.

Not that is bad or anything but i cant see that much faster diffrence at this time in my mind with how fast every thing else is.

All my systems carry at least 512 of ram to help boot.

With Raid and ATA 100 being so affordable these days, only people with money to burn will invest in SCSI eventhough it is better.

Most of the medium to high end motherboards made in the last few months have a raid controller on board. Unfortunately, I am an owner of neither.

Go into your Job Setup. Uncheck the box that says "Save Toolpath in MC8 file". This will preserve your Operatins, but will require re-posting if changes are to be made.

Very simple solution.

Well once again James comes to the rescue.

I did not know this.

So this will cut the file size down sir?

Ok i see you will have to Regen all the ops but they are still there.

On my test file being and old program i did.

It went from 5.3megs to 3.3 megs.

Now for the test it takes to load the file fully shaded at 5.3megs about 6 seconds.

This is comeing across from the server.

And the same file donr the way James stated being 3.3 now is 4 seconds.

Hope this helps.

James-

I did know that, I evidently didn't understand the way the question was worded.I do that all the time being I have to run other peoples toolpaths sometimes, and regen plus backplot is the only way I can be sure. I used to regen anyway, but this forces everyone to.

I am starting a new thread on a job setup topic. Thanks-

Jim

Yes they will need to be regenerated, that is the limitation of this feature, but the ability to save the file without toolpath will satisfy his neeed for faster file access.

Luther anyone who would answer that would be just guessing.

CNC Software has yet to announce a release date.

Yes an Alpha went out but it was for dealer feed back only.

Conversations about what will be available in V9 are speculative.

I have seen beta change drastically in one week.

Even the “last beta” has features pulled out until they are deemed solid.

That is another reason for point releases.

I have seen dealers get burned in this guessing game.

Sorry to rain on the parade.

Loose lips sink ships.
