  1. You lost me on that one. You can sort operations ascending/decending by tool number, by creation order, by view, and some other stuff (that I forget). Or, you can drag them in any order you want. What's missing that you would need?
  2. "SwollenProstate" must be from sitting behind the Mastercam tube so much. Maybe we should all start standing up for at least 4 of the 8 hours a day while we program. I don't want my prostate to swell up. How would they cure that.. ouch!
  3. Make sure your job setup is set to number your tools based on how they're stored in the library, not to renumber them as added.
  4. Me too! Especially when you can import them from one of my "standard setup files" that are all predrawn and waiting for me. Got them (and operation libraries and tool lists) on a network drive so no one can use the "I had to take 10 hours to recreate the tool list and setup" excuse. Kudos to the CNC coder who did this one. Give 'em a big fat raise (as long as you don't raise the price of an upgrade...)
  5. Bold type in a group name denotes the "active operation group". Any operations created will reside under that group (you can move them). To activate another group, select the group and press the 'G' key, or right click on the group name and select "Set active group". Bold type in an operation means "the last operation created" so if you if you hit the "Alt-R" keys, this is the operation you will "redo". "Alt-Q" will delete the last operation created. 6. I like my v9. Well worth the 10% upgrade charge.
  7. Or you could just create your new cplane from the view manager to begin with...
  8. Hopefully you guys have figured out that what I meant by "smoothie" was a "smooth talkin', cool walkin' sales rep" with vaporware promises, a stack of business cards and dreams of big commisions to help pay for that new beach house all while all they have to do is redirect your question to a techie. They'll be plenty of them at the show, but I've actually yet to meet a Mastercam rep that fit the "smoothie" profile. They've been *pretty* competant so far. We'll see...
  9. If you guys meet the guy who wrote the new WCS in v9, buy him a beer for me and send me the bill. This stuff is great! Does CNC Software send the actual developers to the shows or just the sales smoothies?
  10. Maybe Bush will bring up Mastercam getting pirated while he's over in China also bringing up human rights abuses, Taiwain, and the Falun Gong.
  11. Maybe CNC Software should require an internet registration process before enabling the software somehow. Maybe on initial install, or everytime you start Mastercam up after it's been installed. Of course that would require every PC to have internet access... Even if it was cracked, you could chase the internet address or invalid sim # (or whatever secret stuff they could put in there). Just a thought...
  12. I've seen and "worked" with degreed engineers who can't tie their shoes. Especially green horns right out of school. Along with the sheep's skin come a big ol' chip and a tie that has "World Beater" embroidered on it. Those who aren't almost immediately humbled by the fact that they aren't all knowing usually end up in a Gjob plant somewhere walking around with a print under their arm or doing time studies. To bad interviewers don't ask the question "Have you ever been hit with a hot chip?" and then ask to see the scar.
  13. Have been reading about version 9's new view stuff and a new "WCS". What is it and what do you beta testers out there think of it? Thanks.
  14. Views are created "behind the scenes" in Mastercam to support entities that are view dependent (arcs, text, etc). That's why if you've ever created a circular array of arcs where they result in occupying different planes, and then you go to set a view by number, you'll see the numbers (1-29) or whatever amount over the standard 8 views you get on starting a new file. If you create a view after that, your view will be number 30. Delete the arcs, and it will still be number 30 until you save and retreive the file - it will then be number 9. Mastercam does not save view that are not used. You use a view when you define a named view.
  15. In this thread someone says Mastercam is a "family" operation. Who owns it and how are they related? Do they actually run the company themselves or pay someone to do it for them?
  16. CHINA. Mastercam 8.1.1 for $2.00. Oh wait - they have Most Favored Nation trade status. Nevermind...
  17. Yeah - communist slave labor is pretty cheap, and if they don't meet the quality standards required of potential customers, off to a labor camp you go to donate your organs. Pretty good incentive to conform...
  18. How long can a company charge $0.00 and stay in business? Sounds like a desperate attempt to stay afloat to me...
  19. Email the boys at CNC Software (Mastercam). They have ways of dealing with pirates. Is it an overseas website?
  20. Machining Data Handbook Volumes #1 and #2. Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Sciences, Inc. 1111 Edison Drive Cincinnati, Ohio 45216
  21. Wow - pretty cool. That spindle must stop instantly.
  22. What is "peck tapping" and won't that turn your tap into a drill after the first "peck"?
