chamfer vs fillet

Can someone please explain to me why chamfering a solid with a irregular shape dosent work as easy as the fillet function.

unless you plan to trim the solid to acheive the desired result, you will find that any operation in solids will give you problems if that same operation will remove an adjacent edge.

 

ie: if you plan to fillet an edge with a .125 rad and you only have .12 of a flat where you are filleting it will not work.
