Hasp Troubles

I am having trouble getting a laptop(HP XE3) with win2000 to see the hasp. Any suggestions? The port is enabled and in ECP mode and I have full admin rights.

Have you tried setting the port to another setting like EPP? Also, try running the Hasp Setup again. Post your findings after trying that.

Well, no matter what the setting is on the port it would not see the hasp. I ran hdd32.exe and it locks up. Went back and ran it again and even though it locked up the first time, it did load the new driver and now it sees the hasp. Thanks!

When I got to work I found I had to set the port to AT

The only options that the bios offered are, EPP,ECP,NORMAL,BIDIRECTIONAL. Must be a bios variation.

There are three common parallel port types:

1. Standard (or Centronics) interface: the original parallel port standard

2. ECP (Extended Capabilities Port): is bi-directional and is about 10 times faster than the Standard interface

3. EPP (Enhanced Parallel Port): very similar to ECP

All new PCs or those made within the last 5-6 years should be able to support all three.
