Latest Patch

Hello Everyone, I just tried to install the latest patch, v8addons_full.exe. When I said yes to extract and overwrite I got an error message: Cannot create output file C:mcam81chookslayout.cnt

Does anyone get the same message?

Does anyone have an answer?

What was the version you were upgrading from?

8.0 or 8.1?

Some things to keep in mind when installing the addons patch:

- make certain that Mastercam is not running

- be sure that the path that the patch wants to install to is where Mastercam is installed on your system

- if you're using Windows NT/2000 make sure you have administrative rights (this may not be an issue)

If you have V8.1.1 you do not need to install these patches.

I was just about to make the same statment.

If you want down load the single patch that is the Layout one try that buy its self.

I believe he's trying to install the addons patch and not the update patch.

I would expect this error if you had the Layout C-Hook help file open, or system had the file tied up for some reason. It's a content file that's used along with the Layout.hlp file.

The directory it's trying to install to is mcam8, I have my program installed in mcam81 and so I re-direct the patch to this directory. Is this ok? Or do I have to re-install everything to mcam8. The program was not running and so i'm confused, please help.

The reason I was installing this in the first place is I'm just trying to stay current.

Just replace the path in the dialog with the path of the location of Mastercam on your system. For example, if I have Mastercam installed in F:Mcam81 on my system, I'd enter this in the dialog of the patch.

I would then click the Unzip button to install the patches.

Thats what I did, and thats where I'm at. Back to square one. Same error.

If you still receive this error message:

error message: Cannot create output file C:mcam81chookslayout.cnt

If you already have the Layout C-Hook installed, maybe try renaming all layout.* files something like this:

layout.cnt -> layout.cnt.old

layout.dll -> layout.dll.old

layout.hlp -> layout.hlp.old

layout.txt -> layout.txt.old

Then try to install the addons patch again. If that is succesful, remove the .OLD extensions from the files you renamed. If you don't already have the Layout C-Hook installed, maybe try downloading the patch again. Hopefully some of this will help.
