Carbide Prices

I was just told from one of our suppliers that carbide is going up drastically. Has any one else heard this? It seems China is buying up the carbide. I was told it would go up as much as 200%. This is gonna get into our pockets very deep if this is true. They say the bigger carbide companys like Kennametal has already increased their pricing.

Our osg vendor said that osg was going up 20% on there carbide.

Heard the same thing just yesterday from a cutter salesguy. Said that China has 80% of the worlds carbide ore..or something to that effect.

Great, now I need to start stockpiling tools AND material.

 

Sounds like a better investment than the stock market these days.

It seems the increase is somewhere between 20%-40% from the suppliers Ive talked too. Even my Carbide preforms have increased.

 

I agree Italian...carbide and steel stock piling but then we cant afford the gas to delivery our finished product....lol Was also told yesterday when I filled up my truck that the talk was oil was going to $80 a barrel so gas would be around $3.00 gallon. Seems to be a never ending thing.

The highest jump I have seen in carbide is 9% and average is 6%. So far the salesmen are saying no more increase coming now. Hope not, but doesn't make sense that you guys are hearing 20-40%???
