Computer locks up

My computer locks up when running MasterCam, it does it about 1 time a day, could this be a video card problem? what are you guys running for a card ?

Im running MasterCam 9.1 MR0105, my computer is a Dell Precision 650

I have found that if a graphics card is sharing the same interrupt with a network adapter then a lockup situation can happen.

 

To check for this,

 

Control Panel

System

Hardware tab

Device Manager

View (resources by connection

Interrupt request (IRQ)

 

look at your IRQ for both the graphics card and Network adapter. They should NOT be using the same interrupt. If you have a network card that is plugged into a slot, you can move it to another slot and that will generally correct the problem. (IRQ's are usually slot dependant, and you probably can not move the graphics card)

My laptop locks up - ATI graphics card. Desktop computer never locks up - nvidia GeForce FX 5200 gcard. Maybe you need to turn your accelorator down a notch or two? [i forgot how its been so long]

Could be heat. Add a fan to the case. Course thats my answer to all PC problems. I currently have 12 in my system

Right click on the desktop>properties>settings>

advanced button

 

Troubleshoot tab> and there you can lower your acceleration settings
