Why do I get this Z?

Recommended Posts

I generated a topographic finish tool path, my material size is 40”X36.5”X6” thick

And my part size is 39”X35.5”X2.5” thick. I set my origin at the top left corner of my material, so all my Z will be minus, it doesn’t have any wrong tool path show when

Verify, but after I posted to NC file, here is what I‘ve got.

Since I can’t let my Z go more than 6”, what has gone wrong?

Your help is very much appreciated.

Not sure if this is your problem or not but...

Have you changed your WCS? I'd also check your toolplanes to make sure they are correct.

It almost looks like it is trying to reach from the bottom of the part instead of the top.

Looks like you work offset is not at the top of your material. Try and analyze a point on the top of your part and see where it is at. If that is right you might want to also check the operation Top of stock and Depth settings?

Thanks indeed for all your help, I checked every aspect you mentioned here, but none of them seems to be the case.

I have four surfaces to work and they are all the same size except the z, I had the surface-1 done beautifully but start from surface-2 I have problem with the finish path, there is no problem occur on the rough path.

After I done all the checks upon your suggestions, I had a thought about my post processor, here is what I did:

1: use the default post processor RPFAN.PST to post my surface-2 finish path.

2: use my PRICIX_MODELSHOP.PST to post the same. ( This post processor was

Written two years ago by our MasterCam dealer and I have been using it ever since, and I used this processor posted my surface-1 path.)

I repeat the same two steps to post surface-3 finish path

Here is what I found:

When I use default processor, all the NC code look like this:

When I use the other processor, beside all the code above, it also contains part of code as below and all the wrong z are in this part.
