I wanted to convert a couple of pictures to machine onto a rifle I've built but found out that the rast2vec part of MasterCam cost 500.00. Is there another way to do this? I know the company wont buy it just for me to have as a toy to play with on my personal projects.

Longbow, I use Autocad and insert my picture as a raster image, then using mostly 3 pt arcs I trace the part that I am after. Once that is done I delete my original raster image and save the drawing that remains as a .dxf which I can then convert over to a Mastercam file to do any final touch-ups and set my toolpaths. Its not the best way to do things and definately not the fastest way to do it.....but it works, and assuming you already have Autocad, it is free. HTH ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Shady
