Will McamX run on Windows Vista since openGL is being crippled in vista??

That's a good question.

Vista will basically make OpenGL a wrapper for its DirectDraw/Direct3D functions. This will add another layer which will likely degrade performance.

Since OpenGL in Mastercam is used for things like geometry drawing and shading, I'm not sure how big that performance hit will be. Now an OpenGL app with a lot of fast moving rendered-on-the-fly objects like Quake3 will probably suffer. I guess stability should be our main concern with Mastercam on Vista.

The next version of the Microsoft Windows operating system, Windows Vista, enables a new level of confidence in the PCs so you can lower IT costs and help your users get more of their PCs. Windows Vista introduces clear ways to organize and use information to help people focus on what's most important. It seamlessly connects your users and applications to the information, people, and devices they need to maximize results.

Impact of New or Changed Features on Security

The following is an end-to-end user scenario describing the ways in which Windows Vista detects and helps to protect against potential security threats:

Very funny ,silly and strange ,aRE THEY NUTS ?

Before a Windows Vista computer is started, the system is protected against attack through secure startup. This feature uses a hardware-based Trusted Platform Module to ensure that a malicious user cannot start the computer under a different operating system with the intention of compromising the Windows Vista installation.

Once the system is running, Network Access Protection (NAP) scans the computer when it is plugged into the network to ensure that it has the latest patches and up-to-date virus signatures. NAP can also be used to scan many other features that the network administrator has determined need to be checked. This feature requires the NAP infrastructure that is part of Windows Vista Server.

If the computer does not meet the company's policy for system health, it will not be allowed on the network until it complies with that policy.

The user logs on to the computer and network with standard user credentials (not as an administrator), minimizing the potential impact of viruses or malicious programs, and is able to customize computer settings and run legacy applications without issues.

When patches are deployed to the computer, restart manager reduces the number of reboots required compared to Windows XP.
