Mouse setup for X

I've got a 5 button mouse that I've been using for a while. I've had ESC and Enter programmed

to the thumb buttons for years.

My scroll wheel can also be used as another button

and I just programmed it as the letter "O".

O = the green check/accept buttom in X.

So far I'm really liking this. It seems to be a big timesaver.

 

edit: it doesn't seem to work for the green check in dialog boxes, just the green check in the ribbon bar

What kind of mouse are you using? I've seen you talking about it quite a bit, and I think I may look into getting one for myself. It sounds like your really happy with it. Thanks.

Nothing fancy..a Kensington Optical Elite $24.95

IMO Kensington makes the best mouse drivers in the business.

When I first installed X I had my mouse middle as accept, but since then it has been changed (new optical mouse). I can't seem to get it back to that setting. It was nice... no moving mouse or hitting enter just mid-click.

 

Any suggestions as how you did it?

 

edit... I have it configured in mouse settings to enter. Still doesn't work.

The Letter O = the green check mark.

Some mouse drives may not let you do that

My mouse has application specific settings (MastercamX) and I have made the mid mouse button -O- but in X it still wants to dynamic rotate. I did reboot.

Just got my new 5 button mouse at lunch, programmed ENTER, ESC, and screen clear colors, so far. Don't know how long it'll stay this way, but it's a start.

You can program almost any Mastercam function

into your right mouse button through Mastercam.

To do Escape, Enter, "O", etc you have to do it through Mouse Properties in Control Settings.

You have to have programmable mouse for this to work right.
