Mastercam X with Dual Processors

We are currently running X on a Pentium 4 with a Gig of ram and Nvidia Quadro FX500 video card. I would like to get a little more speed out of X. I would like to go to dual processors but I know the software has to be written to take advantage of this type of system. In a recent user group meeting we were told that the next update will allow X to process in the background while still working with the geometry on screen. Will this take advantage of a dual system? Does anybody have insight, knowledge or thoughts on this? Any advice to gain speed is appreciated (processor, video card, etc.)

Thanks!!

Running dual core/cpu won't help with the calculations yet. That article is a reference to help your system perform better not Mastercam.

I also heard that Mastercam will have support for Multi-processor systems as well as SLI technology in the future. MR-1..? I doubt it.

MR-1, good news/bad news, you decide

If your getting hung up on verify and backplot, replace the graphic card with something better, the QuadroFX 500 is an entry level card.

Hi Frank, long time no see. One year to be exact in fact. :-)

I've been running Mastercam on a test 64bit system with a 64bit OS, and it's *considerably* faster than the P4's though it doesn't help a whole heck of a lot with multi-tasking.

Specs;

ASUS A8N-E mainboard

AMD FX55 CPU

XP Pro x64 Edition (beta / evaluation copy)

3GB Corsair RAM

SATA 10K RPM disks (RAID 0)

GeForce FX5200 GPU

Despite the hinkey graphics adaptor it also runs Solidworks rather well too. Be forwarned, that hardware ain't for cheapskates. ;-)

Toolpath Editor

Based on user requests for editing capabilities similar to Version 9, the toolpath editor has been brought into Mastercam X. To access the function, right-click on the operation you wish to edit in the Toolpath Manager and choose Toolpath Editor. The functionality is the same as Version 9.

No improvements? frown.gif
