flowline and its application

could anyone tell me how to select the surfaces for flowline finishing and its application, I have never used it, what type of surface or shape would be best to use flowline finishing?

Flowline is a very picky surfacing algorithm(sp?). Is is unique in that you can machine a surface(s), and you can specify a stepover/scallop height and the toolpath will maintain that parameter normal to the surface. It's not just a constant spepover like the other surfacing toolpaths.

If you want to pick more than one surface, the surfaces must form a row(meaning, they must share UV edges. It is an awesome toolpath for the right application.

For more control on cut direction you may also want to try the new Surface, Finish, Project: "Two curve blend"

Run the Appcfg.dll chook to enable new surface machining options. Read Appcfg.doc for more info.

This allows you to select two curves (or chains) which define a temporary ruled surface. Multiple cuts are made along or across this ruled surface in either a zigzag or one way ordering. You may specify the maximum stepover between the curves. The cuts are projected onto the underlying surfaces/solid faces.
