Now that's a fairly open question.

There is different carbides, geometries of a cutter and coatings galore, but wink.gif

for a good tool like varimill or stabilizer I'd start with 250sfm+ and about .001" ipt for 1/4 and .0003" for 3/32

For profiling I'd kick a chipload up a quite a bit wink.gif

1/4" 3Fl. Carbide

1/4" RPM of 3800

11.5 IPM

DOC .07/.05

Step over 35%/55% of cutter

3/32" 4Fl. Carbide

3/32, MAX up around 10K

9. IPM @ 10k

DOC .05/.03

Step over 25%/40% of cutter

You can use Machinery's Handbook for very good ballpark starting #'s

RPM = SFM x 3.82/Ø cutter

Feed = CPT x No. of Flutes x RPM
