Backing up settings

Now after I finally have X set just the way I like. What files should I back up just incase I ever need to do a clean install?

 

these are what I back up already:

 

Config Folder

Machines folder

Tools

Posts

OPs

C-hooks

 

What about updates?, toolbars?

 

Are there any others that I am missing?

If you've backed up the Config Folder , I belive your toolbar and key mapping files are good to go as well. Not sure bout' the Updates though.

Want a very easy way from what I understand. Create a Z2G of a dummy file and you will have everything saved the way want. Me I made backed up copies all of my MTB, config, kmp, and machine defintions, and posts elsewhere on my computer.

Do your Zip 2 go, then choose select all and save it. That will be all of your necessary files from what I can see.

From what I can tell, the ZIP2 only saves the currently used files and not all the machines,post,tools,ect.

Can't speak for anyone else but I "assumed" your posts would be backed up seperately.

 

The Z2G , will take the current tool, an dmaterail library, if you maintain seperate ones they should be backed up individually.

 

With everything you say you have backed up, the addition of 1 Z2G file would give you the keyboard, mouse and config files.

could some 1 please guide me how to backup everything i have now, config files,tool bars, mouse , colors etc....and also my posts?

RandleXX listed a group of folders that is a good start. create a Z2G file of anything and select all files, that'll bring in your MC configuration.

 

Put them all together in a folder, zip it up and stire it on your network or back it up to a CD_rom or other media seperate from your computer.

 

You can go further but that is a good start.
