"error writing database to disk"

Okay did a search, this came up.

This just happened to me this morning too. Using MR1.

Here are notable things leading up to this:

-I was using solids

-made some solids dirty and some got the little question mark because I messed up some geometry, deleting, moving, etc. - No biggie I knew what was going on. It's what I meant to do

-Got that all squared away - no dirty solids or anything

-Tried to save = "Error Writing Database to Disk"

So then I:

1. Tried again - same result

2. Regened solids even though they weren't dirty - didn't help

3. Screen - Regenerate.... nope

4. Save as... different name... Nope

5. Save as... Differnet name on a network drive... nope

6. Save some... selected all entities.... Worked!!

For sure things are: nothing is read-only and disk isn't even close to full

Luckily I didn't have any toolpath data bonk.gifbanghead.gif

I just got this same error. I tried all of what Jerosu tried and nothing. Ramsaver tells me there was an error writing temporary file to folder.

20 gig left on hard drive.

nothing is read only.

I have another session open right now that is responding fine.

any ideas

Make a copy of the file and delete all the solids. Save it and close Mcam, and open up the file again. If it opens without the error, there might be a problem with one solid which is showing as being 'clean' but Mastercam can't load properly.

Go through your solids tree deleting several solids operations at a time and saving and closing the file. When you've deleted the solid causing the problem, the file will open without the error.

Had to do that on several occasions, where I've had lots of 'copy of copy of copy of copy of a solid' in my ops tree.

Hey there,

I don't know if this helps with this type of bug, but I ran into a cross multi issue when searching the interwebs for a error writing database to disk in MasterCam.

Turns out it was tied( I  don't necessarily know how it tied together) to deleting a temporary viewsheet. I got the "error writing database to disk" and then I noticed that it only happened after I deleted a temporary viewsheet.

Now after some fiddling it keeps adding a temporary viewsheet at random, sometimes it adds it when I open the file, but I now have a bunch of unwanted temporary viewsheets that A= I right click and don't have the option to delete or B= It is the viewsheet that I can delete, but if I delete it I get the error writing database to disk when trying to save.

Things to note

Happened on MasterCam 2023

I have tried to repair the file with no change in this overall issue.

If that helps in any way there you go 🙂

Or if someone know what's going on and can help Thanks!!
