solid compare

Hi,

Is there a way to compare 2 solids??

Most of our customers send solids and sometimes they do some changes,and they send the solid again.

How do i compare the solids??if it's a complicated part,what is the fastest way to know the difference between the 2 solids??

My thought would to make one solid color 10 and the other color 12.

use the same WCS for both.

It's still a visual solution,and it will be hard to notice the little details.

you can find a diffrence in a fast glance.

(and they say size dosent matter, i guess it dosent)

There's a C-Hook from Camaix called Csurf.dll, you might want to take a look at it. It is used to compare two different surface models.

How about trying a Boolean Remove operation?

This may work sometimes, but in many cases the result will be the familiar message regarding

the "this would result in a disjoint body"...

Another way: DO a rough pocket with a small cutter on the original part. Then create a surface contour restmill on your second part.

The restmill toolpath will show you the differences.

You may need to do it again reversed: the original toolpath on the second part and the restmill on the fisrt part.

Just another idea.

You could create stl files out of both models and then create a toolpath that does not cut any of the parts. ie. draw a line of in space and contour it. You can use true solid verify and compare the two stl files.

So is restmilling another way of doing a remachining operation? Also, I couldn't find it anywhere in my tool path operations.

You can find it under rough contour parameters, and

finish contour parameters. I'm not sure why it is being "hidden", so maybe it is available somewhere else
