Bug in Create Letters (X MR1)

If you need to specify something other than the default letter spacing, you have to make sure you do this last or the letter spacing will be reset.

Repo:

-On the Create menu select "Create Letters..."

-Specify a letter height

-Change the letter spacing

-Type in some text

-Click the green check mark

You can see the letter spacing being reset to the default value before the window is closed.

The only way I can get it to work is to specify the letter spacing last then click the green check mark. If I do it in any other order it resets.

It would also be nice if you could specify the letter height and letter spacing in any order, but since the letter spacing is calculated on the "lost focus" of the letter height textbox you can't

I ran some tests on this and looked at the source code and in most cases the spacing is either always assumed to be 1/5 of the height, or is recalculated based upon the Truetype font chosen.

And you know what, it worked that way in V9 too!

I'm not even sure why that's happening - perhaps we should be greying out the spacing field more intelligently like we do with 'drafting fonts' (Stick, etc).

That was my problem, I needed expand the spacing to make it legible. I got bit by this bug. I was engraving some boat parts for the boss and this bug got me in the end. I didn't even try explaining it to my boss. I just told him it was my fault, which it was.
