LATHE RECOMENDATIONS

can anybody tell me what to look for when buying

a cnc lathe for turning aluminium.

i need to know horsepower ,rpm, etc required to

turn aluminium molds from 4" to 22" in dia.

also i would like to know of anything in particular,

i need to watch for .

Start by calling the local dealers for either Mazak or Mori Seiki. Personal preference. If buying a used machine, ask how many times the machine has or has not been crashed, check turret alinment with centerline of chuck, and check all slides. As far as horsepower, get the most you can afford. It will allow you to take bigger "bites".

How about a Hardinge? I used to work there, and I now have a Cobra 42 in my shop. Love that machine! Low cost, but works GREAT!!
