milling a boss on a round surface

Trevors idea will work as long as the surface in question is perpindicular to the tool axis. However, if you need to keep the tool tangent and checked to a irregular of tilted surface you will need to use project. The c/l of the tool needs to be able to see the surface along the tool axis. You may need to extend the surface if the tool radius is >= .625 in this case.

We tried that and it didn't give us what we wanted. I download a mc8 file called boss and we want to keep a round dia. on top. We would like to take a .750 dia. ballnose tool and run around it, the we are doing it now is using a smaller ballnose tool and going around it.

Thanks

So Trev,

WHat are you gonna do when @Home dies in February? You have something else lined up?

BTW, I hope you have a Merry Christmas if I do not talk to you before then.

Merry Christmas to you also James. I am planning a ski trip in Jays backyard at Mt High. Maybe we can all get the families together for a day.
