Randle,

I would look into what else is running in the background, plus how much of your system resources do you have allocated for X to use?

Settings >> configuration >> toolpaths

with 2 gigs of RAM you should allocate at least 50%

Also if you are running hyperthreading you might try disabling it.

You can also open task manager, goto processes tab, right click mastercam.exe, set affinity, and uncheck cpu1, leaving cpu0 checked. With most programs you have to do this every time you start them, but with my mastercam, after the first time it has always defaulted to only using CPU0. I tend to select CPU1 for most other processes so mastercam has a fairly dedicated processor and all other programs use CPU1.

hope this helps smile.gif

Hyperthreading will kill Mcam's performance, no matter how you set the affinity. Hyperthreading does help if you have 5 or 6 programs open at once, my experience is that it helps stability a bit.

Try this for a test....pick a fairly large file to verify...set all the quality settings to max. Time your verify with hyperthreading on then with it off...should have a good impact.

Dual core's & mastercam is worthless too. Mastercam does not utilize dual core processors in any way that is advantageous. Perhaps in the future CNC will take advantage of the hardware that is available today.
