Contour Depth Passes

Good Morning All!

Anyone have a suggestion?

I have a contour that I want to take in two depth passes in a zig-zag manner vs. machining with a back pass to the initial point without cutting anything. Right now I can only seem to get Mastercam setup to drop the tool down at point X1 at initial Z depth, machine over to point X2, machine back to point X1 at the initial Z depth, drop to final Z depth, and machine over to point X2 and retract. I have the tool centered on the line (no offsets).

I’ve been working 12 hour days for the last week or so, so I haven’t had the chance to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. Love the snow on the home page. It’s cold up here, but with rain and ugly dark overcast skies!

Kathy, copy the geometry to z-.375 and z-.75, create a line at the end point to join the 2 lines, set depth of cut to "0" incremental.

Kathy,

Under contour parameters pick the ramp method and use plunge. Set the ramp value to whatever depth you need per pass. This will do exactly as you need-plunge at each end.
