Splitting a solid into 2...

Hi all.

I had to split a solid into two by trimming to a plane.

Now I moved the two bodies in opposite directions by .100" (this part will be cut and milled at this plane before assembled back together later...).

Now how do I re-join them back together at this new position so I have one solid. Boolean won't work with bodies separated by a distance...

Am I missing something, or is it imposibble to do?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards, Mark

If you want the parts to be exactly like the original, move them back and boolean add. If you want the solid to be .100 longer in the middle - Create, Curves, Edge and select one of the faces. Do an extrude, add boss at .100 length. Then you can boolean add the longer solid to the other cut half.

In theory that sounds good, but who knows! HTH
