Dream Machine for MCX?

Recommended Posts

I know we have been round and round on this, but to date it is not clear if dual core processors/ dual processor systems are or will soon be any advantage in running MCX. Those of you who have been tweaking with your systems to get best performance out of MCX Router/Mill Level 3 w/Solids, if you were to buy a system today, what would that "dream system" look like? Is the FX3450 the cat's meow? Seems as though Intel vs AMD is not really an issue, since I've seen both processors discussed almost equally. However, little mention of Athelon and P4; most seem to mention opteron and xeon--what's with this? Anyone have any thoughts here? Thanks for your time.

Have a 3 Gig Xeon here and it blows compaired to a 2.8 P4 here for processing standard 3d toolpaths but does great on the highspeed (new to MR2). We've been schrathing our heads over here wondering why this is the case and trying to find some resolve to it.

We have ran all kinds of performance tests and checked everything out. It's an out of box Dell precision 670 workstation 3 gig processor with and invidea quatro with 2 gigs of ram.

We have been told that the new highspeed toolpaths have been programmed to utilize the dual core where the standard paths have not. But still can't figure out why a standard constant scallop take 10 min to process on the Xeon and 3 on the P4.
