Create MCX Images

I have been saving files with the System Configuration field, “Include bitmap in file when saving” unchecked, just to be safe. In Mastercam Help I ran across a feature called, Create MCX Images. It looked like a perfect way to catch up on the thumbnail images if you wanted to use the Bitmap option in File-Open to browse a folder. But I can not seem to find it. Has anyone else used this feature?

In file-open dialog box, under the red 'X' button, the 3rd button from the right, should do what you want. It will show an image of drawing. HTH

Is the Preview button the one you are pointing to? It will not show an image unless you saved a thumbnail with the geometry.

Misread your post. What I did find was if you did a file open from my computer and did right click on file - properties - preview, this shows image of drawing.

That feature is V9 not X, under the right-click in the File, Open Dialog. In X that option is replaced with Recent Folders.

 

Where in the X help file did you see that option?

Just tried the preview from windows Explorer, and there was no image. Probably because there was not a thumbnail saved with the geometry.

Select File-Open, then click the Help button, click the "File, Open dialog box (to open CAD files)" link, select the Field definitions tab, then select Bitmap.

I have the option to save a bitmap unchecked also, but can see a preview as a explained earlier.

This is an error in the online Help, which we will correct. There are no current plans to implement it in X. Sorry for the confusion!

Thank you for pursuing this question. I never used this feature in V9, but I do feel it would be useful in X.
