Verify a drill with a custom file

I have some step drills that are I have drawn and am using a custom file for thier profile. They are extremely small when I do a verify. Do I have to give some special scale factor to make it accurate? Everything is done in inches.

In your Verify Options dialog box, do you have the Tool profile set to "As defined"?

In your toolpath parameter page, right click on the tool and make sure the diameter of the tool is correctly specified.

Is the tool defined as a "drill" or as "undefined"? This is usually where people go wrong when the tool is defined as one of the predefined tool types (drill, flat endmill, bullnose endmill, etc...).

 

"undefined" tools need to be drawn at their actual size. The tool diameter you input is used as the compensation diameter - it does NOT scale the drawing for backplot/verification.

 

"predefined" tools need to be drawn up with a 1" radius, the tool diameter you input is used to scale the drawing to the correct size for backplot/verification.

I see where my problem is. I defined it as a drill, but drew it to the actual diameter.
