Lathe WCS

Recommended Posts

Our machine is probally alot different from yours, but the only lathe here that we use mastercam for, I set my planes to what is called lathe upper left [top] 1. I think this is the same as D+Z+ (Top). I dont have a default lathe setup, so I cant really test it.

I am wondering if D+Z+ (Right Side) is where I should be at.

D+Z is NOT right side palne!

For turning use Top C/T plane.

When you use your live tooling to drill a hole through a diameter like in your other thread set CT plane to Back.

When face machining with Live tooling set the CT plane to Right side.

Using the D+Z Cplane makes it easier to creat geom because you can work in Diameter instead of Radial when drawing geom.

Yes my machine has an upper turret. See, this kind of info should be in the tutorial book. It's really is a pain to be trying to do something for so long and not have it work, even though the book says it should....

I do appreciate all the help, guys. But, unfortunatly this job I had to do won't be done for a while. We had a sub chuck in the lathe yesterday and it cracked and basically exploded. Lots of damage. It really sucks.

But thanks anyways!!!
