Running a program off of 50 meg storage memory

On our Mori's I am trying to run a program, DNC out of the 50 meg user area.

 

I can upload the program into the area but I keep getting a format is incorrect error.

 

Anyone know what this problem might be?

James Meyette is the man with this trick. I used it once a few years ago, but havn't been running Mori's since then. Here are the instructions that James hooked me up with:

 

Oh, with a format error I will usually play around with % sign positioning at beginning and end.

Operation of card DNC operation from 50Mbyte user area (MSX-501)

 

This manual describes that how to use the 50MByte user area for card DNC operation. This operation does not require any parameter setting.

 

1. Press “SETTING” button

2. Press “OPE. PANEL” soft-key

3. Press “OPE. MODE” soft-key

4. Set operation mode as “MAPPS-DNC”

5. Put a CF card that includes programs on front card slot

6. Change mode to “TAPE”

7. Press “Program” button

8. Press “PROG. LIST” soft-key

9. Press “READ” soft-key

10. Press “READ” soft-key

11. Move cursor to a program to run, and Press “EXECUTE” soft-key (The selected program is uploaded to 50Mbyte user area now.)

12. Move cursor to a program to run, and Press “INPUT” soft-key (Screen is changed to Program DNC)

13. Press “SINGLE BLOCK” button (To make sure safety)

14. Cycle Start. (Please make sure if the running program is same as the one you selected)

Yup, did all of the above.

 

Got a format error, the machine is currently running off of the card so as soon as I get a chance I'll post the exact error wording.

No I didn't

 

I suspect it was a formatting error in the program but I never did get back this.

Thanks for the reply John. Anybody else have a solution? I'm trying to get IS to buy some cards but who knows when they will get around to it. How about DNC from a computer, anybody know how to do this. All that the manual talks about is running from a card. appreciate the help. Dan

yOUR PROGRAM NAME must have no extention ,I suppose

Whenever I have had that problem in the past it was usually program needed to be a number with no extension, or extra spaces in the first 5 or 6 lines. I would go into an editor and make sure the last charater was the last charater of code

The Mori guy had me run it as a subprogram. I will try it with no extension and clean up the (extras) at the begining of the program. Thank you for all of your input. Dan

We had this problem before. The only we could get it to work was to delete all the comments and parenthesis. It depends on your software version too. The Mori application guy swore to me that he didn't have to delete anything to get it to work. Hope this helps.
