can anyone help me? I need to know how to switch units on a fadal I have an old program written in metric and I need to set the machine units to metric too so I can take offsets.

Armando,

 

At the command line, type in SETME, then Enter. That will switch the machine over to metric. I think the manual tells you to go to the cold start position first, then switch it over. I never do and have never had any problems.

 

Don't forget to keep an eye on your tool lengths when you switch back to Inch (SETIN). What used to be 300mm is now 300 inches. And I doubt you have that much Z travel.

Having the G20/G21 in the program is also a good idea. This will not switch the machine from inch/metric, but it will stop the program if the machine is not set correctly.
