Hello,

 

I am new to the board. I have been using MasterCAM for about 6 months now. Previously used Autocad, Solidworks, and Pro-E. Using MasterCAM X2 with a Cincinnati Maxim 630 Acramatic 950 control. Can someone recommend a starter post? I have MPMASTER but it seems like overkill? B4 Mastercam we used APT and our operators are really picky in seeing the code mimic what APT has done for years.

Oh boy, good luck with that one, you DON"T want to know my answer to that problem

 

MPMaster is a good solid all around post, configurable for a many a machine and a da*n good choice for starting post if you ask me.

 

It's the base post I use for everything I do.

well, I think they're coming around a little bit.

 

There is a lot of redundant info on our APT based programs. Colon blocks for every new Z-depth face off routines. Generally we do very basic machining, parts are simple.

Cimtech sells a chook for mastercam that will convert Mastercam NCI to APT code. If the price on their website is correct it is relatively in-expensive if it means your operators will understand the code.

I forgot to add that Vericut will do NCI to APT as well.
