create point problem

I went to creat point then relative but it doesnt let me use that tool bar to get to the intersection selection it just greys it out?

any Ideas?

Rick, if you hold down the shift key, the autocursor will still pick up the intersection, and it will create your point relative.

Do you have Power Keys enabled? It's in the autocursor settings. If so, just hit "I" for intersection.

 

Not sure why the icon is greyed out. Is it disabled in autocursor? Just taking a stab.

thad I just enabled power keys now the I works thanks, But it is weird I cant select it from the menu just stopped doing it

It looks like you're using up your autocursor selection with the relative option. I guess it makes sense in most cases to only allow one autocursor type per operation. For example, you can't select midpoint and endpoint. Your situation is one where 2 autocursor settings don't conflict. I guess the answer is the "I" key.

 

Also, I think Nearest and Relative were recently added to that menu. Maybe that's why they don't have a power key assigned to them.

I have a casting, point of origin is in the center I am machining a mock up version with draft angles I have the bounding box but I cannot move the origin point to upper left corner even in machine set up it shows it has moved but f9 show it in center

If you want to move the origin, try Xform-Translate.

I have had 8hrs min training on this software It is similar to Esprit that I run I believe the Mastercam is more powerfull I have a step file up and I could not get the right depths because the zero was in ctr of casting. Thanks again and wish me luck
