New WCS Function?

Can anybody explain what this is to me?

Right now what I do is CPLANE-->NEXT MENU-->SAVE NAMED and then I just assign it a work offset no.

 

I do this about 2 to six times (G54 to G59), depending on how many operations I have on the one piece.

 

With this new WCS function does this mean I wouldn't be able to do that any more? -- I hope not!

 

I haven't even looked at V9 yet, but plan on updating soon.

You can do the same thing, it's just a little more involved to get it done. You have to set your c-plane, the go to the view manager, then right click on the system plane with the same number as your current c-plane, then copy the selected plane and give it a new name.

Or you could just create your new cplane from the view manager to begin with...

I do both(ways) depending where I'm at in my process and they work equally well.

 

The WCS Manager in V9 does take a bit of getting used to, It is a HUGE imporvement over the old way of doing things.

Whew!

 

The reason I asked is because there are so many things that have become routine for me to do. The TPLANE function I described is now like a third arm to me. It would be too bad if you couldn't do it anymore.

 

Guess I'm a stickler for consistency
